Create an iLok account

EastWest software is licensed with an iLok account. That means to use it, you will need to activate its iLok license to either your computer or an iLok USB dongle. If you don’t already have an iLok account, you’ll need to create one and install the iLok License Manager app. Follow the steps below to get started. If you already have an account, pass these steps and continue to Register EastWest license code.

1. Visit iLok’s registration page and complete the registration form. Take note of your User ID and password. Please note that iLok User IDs are case-sensitive.
2. Open the iLok Account Activation email and click on the verification link.
3. Download and install the iLok License Manager.
4. Launch the iLok License Manager app and sign in to your iLok account.
   • (Optional) Connect an iLok and click Yes to register it to your account when prompted.

Register the EastWest license code

ATTENTION NEW ILOK USERS! iLok user IDs are case-sensitive, so be sure to enter it exactly how you created it when activating your EastWest license code.

Once your iLok account has been created, the next step is to register the EastWest license code you received from your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.

1. Go to the EastWest registration page.
   • If you’re a new EastWest user, click the I am a new customer bubble.
   • If you’re an existing EastWest user, click the I already have a Soundsonline.com account bubble.
2. Enter the required information, including the License Code you received from your Sweetwater Sales Engineer, then click Register.
   • The iLok license will then be deposited automatically into your account.

Install EastWest Installation Center

Once the license code has been registered, the next step is downloading and installing EastWest Installation Center. EastWest Installation Center is the central hub where you will activate, download, and install your EastWest products. This includes the OPUS and Product Support, which you will need to complete your registration.

1. Go to the EastWest support page and download the latest version of EastWest Installation Center for your OS here.
2. Open your downloads folder and launch the installer file:
   • PC: Right-click the Installation Center .zip file, select Extract all…, and then click Extract. Double-click the new Installation Center .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions.
   • Mac: Double-click the Installation Center .zip file to decompress it (this may already be done for you). Double-click the new Installation Center .pkg file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Download and install OPUS and Product Support

IMPORTANT: We highly recommend installing Product Support first, as you must install it for OPUS to work.

Once EW Installation Center is installed, you’ll need to download OPUS and Product Support. The EastWest OPUS software is where you will load all of your EastWest instrument libraries. You can run it both in Standalone mode and as a plug-in inside your DAW. You can download and install OPUS and any of its updates one of two ways; through Installation Center or by downloading the .zip file on the Soundsonline software download page and manually installing it.

1. Launch EastWest Installation Center.
2. Click the Download button located next to OPUS software and Product Support.
3. Once downloaded, follow the on-screen prompts to install the software.

Activate EastWest sound libraries

After installing OPUS and Product Support, you’ll need to activate your EastWest sound library. EastWest has made the sound library activation process easy, so follow these steps to activate your new product.

1. In the EW Installation Center, click Activate located at the top of the application.
2. Click Next, select the library you want to activate, then click Next.
3. Select where you want the library to be activated: your computer or your iLok.

Install and link sound libraries

TIP: Some EastWest sound libraries are quite large, so it may take some time to download. We recommend not downloading multiple libraries at once.

Installing the sample libraries (aka the sounds) comes second. You’ll download the library files from the Installation Center software and compile each of the libraries into a single master folder. We recommend creating a folder and naming it (e.g., EastWest Libraries) for easy access and installing the sound library on a dedicated external hard drive. While using your computer’s primary hard drive, it can fill up quite quickly.

1. Navigate to your product in EastWest Installation Center.
2. Click the Download located next to the sound library.
3. Select the folder you wish to install the library. If this is your first library, you will receive a prompt asking if you would like to make that folder the default location.

Link sound libraries

After installation, all that’s left to do is link the sound libraries within the Play software and load it either in standalone mode or within your DAW. Without linking the libraries, you won’t be able to play any of the sounds. Once linked, the EastWest installation is complete. Enjoy your new virtual instrument software!

1. Launch OPUS as a standalone program.
2. Click Browse, then the Libraries tab.
3. Select your product, then double-click a sample of your choosing.

Sound libraries not showing up?

If your sound libraries aren’t showing up, follow these steps to reconnect them.

1. Click the Main Menu button in the Installation Center app, and then click Reconnect Libraries.
2. Open the Play app, and in the Browser menu, right-click and select Refresh Browser.
